A few days ago, Suite101 posted a list with Top 10 Underrated stars in Hollywood. According to them these stars need more attention and recognition.
Here what they posted about Deborah.
Although attached to a slew of upcoming movies, Deborah Ann Woll was relatively unknown before earning the role of Jessica Hamby on HBO’s True Blood. When Jessica first appeared at the end of season one, it seemed like she was going to be an annoying thorn in the side of an otherwise very entertaining guilty pleasure, but she quickly proved us wrong.
The naïve nature that Jessica exudes could have been played real dumb by a less talented actress, but on a show that embraces campy and overstated performances, Woll is actually pretty low-key and helps to make Jessica one of the most honest and enjoyable parts of the show. Her back story is always intriguing and watching her wrestle with the feelings of guilt and shame instilled in her by her religious, dominating father back when she was a human is typically very moving.
One of the high points of the uneven past two seasons has been Jessica’s relationship with Hoyt. Playing a vampire right actually takes skill (that’s why so many come off as cheesy) and she’s able to do a perfect job balancing her human and supernatural natures and doing a great job conveying Jessica’s melancholy, sweet nature as she falls in love with Hoyt.
